This Cookie Policy explains how Linkwards uses cookies, browser storage and similar technologies across linkwards.com (our marketing website and our free tools), app.linkwards.com (our customer app), and the public Pages our customers publish at linkwards.com/username. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
1. What these technologies are
- Cookies are small text files that a website saves on your device.
- Local storage and session storage are areas in your browser where a website can keep small pieces of data. Local storage stays until it is cleared; session storage is cleared when you close the tab or window.
- Scripts and pixels are small pieces of code or images loaded from other companies that can measure how a page is used.
We refer to all of these as “cookies” unless we say otherwise.
2. Categories we use
Strictly necessary
These are needed for the Service to work and cannot be switched off in our systems. They do not need your consent.
- Sign-in session (app.linkwards.com). When you log in, our authentication provider (Supabase) stores a session token in your browser’s local storage so that you stay signed in. If you untick “remember me” at login, the session is kept in session storage instead and ends when you close the browser tab or window.
- Bot protection. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on sign-up and login pages to tell people from bots, and may use storage or cookies for that purpose.
- Announcement dismissals (app). A small item in session storage remembers which in-app announcements you closed during your visit.
- Staff support sessions (app). If a member of our team opens a time-limited support session on your account, a small item in session storage lets the app show the “staff session” banner and countdown. It is removed when the session ends.
- Your cookie choice. When you respond to our cookie banner, we save your choice in your browser’s local storage (under the name lw-cookies-accepted) so we do not ask you on every page.
- Page analytics session identifier. On public Pages, a random session identifier is saved in session storage (lw_session_id) so that the Page owner’s basic analytics can count visits, rather than individual clicks, as part of one session. It does not identify you personally, it is not shared across websites, and it disappears when you close the tab.
Analytics (only with your consent on our website)
- Google Analytics 4 on linkwards.com. If you click “Accept all” on our cookie banner, we load Google Analytics, which sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier) and collects information about pages viewed, approximate location, device, browser, how you reached us and how you interact with the site, so that we can understand and improve it. If you click “Decline”, or you have not made a choice, we do not load Google Analytics. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Public Pages. Because our site-wide analytics setting is stored in your browser, if you accepted analytics on linkwards.com earlier, Google Analytics may also run when you view a customer’s Page. You can withdraw consent at any time as described in section 4.
- Linkwards page analytics. Separately from Google Analytics, our own analytics records page views and clicks for the Page owner (see section 5 of our Privacy Policy). It uses the session identifier described above and does not rely on advertising cookies.
Tracking added by customers (outside our control)
Customers on eligible plans can add their own Google Analytics (GA4) measurement ID or Meta Pixel ID to their Page. If they do, Google or Meta scripts load on that Page and may set cookies or similar identifiers (for example _ga, _gid, _fbp) to measure visits and advertising performance. Those tools are configured and controlled by the customer, who is responsible for telling you about them and for getting any consent the law requires. Linkwards does not control these cookies and does not receive the data they collect. If you do not want these, use your browser controls or a content blocker, or contact the customer.
Third-party content and links
Pages and our website may link to or load content from third parties, such as social networks, video platforms, payment pages, review sites, maps, and booking tools. Those third parties may set their own cookies when you interact with their content, which we do not control. Please read their policies.
3. What we do not do
- We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies on linkwards.com or in the Linkwards app.
- We do not sell information collected through cookies.
- We do not build advertising profiles of visitors to customer Pages.
4. Your choices
- Our cookie banner. You can accept or decline analytics when the banner appears. To change your mind later, clear this site’s local storage and cookies in your browser; the banner will ask you again on your next visit. Clearing your Google Analytics cookies stops any further use of the identifier they hold.
- Browser settings. Most browsers let you view, delete and block cookies and site data, and block cookies from specific sites. See your browser’s help pages for instructions. If you block strictly necessary storage, parts of the Service, including login, may not work.
- Opt out of Google Analytics. You can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Meta and other ad tools. Use the ad preference controls in your Meta, Google and other accounts, or your browser’s tracking-protection features.
- Do Not Track. We do not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals, but you can use the other controls above.
5. How long they last
- Sign-in session: until you sign out, the session expires, or (if you did not choose “remember me”) you close the tab.
- Cookie choice: until you clear your browser storage.
- Page analytics session identifier: until you close the tab.
- Google Analytics cookies: typically up to about two years, as set by Google.
- Customer-added tracking cookies: as set by the provider.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our use of cookies changes. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, where changes are material, tell you in the app or on the site.
